Don Piacentini Receives Nina Kilian Peace Award of the Hanover County Bar Association



Donald W. Piacentini is the recipient of the 2011 Nina Kilian Peace Award of the Hanover County Bar Association. The award was established in 2004 to recognize a Hanover County attorney who has made a singular and unique contribution to the legal profession and the community in one or more of the following areas: pro bono services, mentoring, or community service work. The award honors the memory of Nina Kilian Peace, a long-time member of the Hanover Country Bar Association who exemplified the highest ideals and aspirations of service to the legal profession and the community.

Mr. Piacentini is president and managing shareholder of the firm. In addition to this latest honor bestowed by the Hanover County Bar Association for his community service work, Mr. Piacentini is the recipient of the President’s Lifetime Volunteer Service Award, whereby he achieved Gold Level status for each of the last six years. Mr. Piacentini’s aggregate community service exceeded 3,975 hours during that period, nearly 80% of which was devoted to scouting activities.

Mr. Piacentini has served as assistant scoutmaster, Troup 555, since 2003 and has received numerous scouting awards and recognitions, including the 2007 Order of the Arrow (Brotherhood Member) and the 2006 District Award of Merit. In 2006 he was also one of the first recipients of the Ruritan Scout Leader Service Award. Mr. Piacentini is an at-large board member of the Boys Scouts of America, Heart of Virginia Council. He was previously a member of the executive board for a three-year term. Mr. Piacentini has served as chairman of the Mechanicsville Ruritan Club Scholarship Committee for more than 25 years.
