Michael A. Lormand
MICHAEL A. LORMAND was born at Ft. Meade, Maryland, and raised in a military family. He earned his B.F.A. degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1973 and served thereafter with the 193rd Infantry Brigade in the Canal Zone, Panama until 1977. He received his M.S. degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1995, and his J.D. from The T.C. Williams School of Law, University of Richmond in 1997. Mr. Lormand practices in the areas of Family Law, Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning, and Commercial and Residential Real Estate and associated litigation.
In practice since 1997, Michael has worked diligently during his legal career to be an effective counselor and advocate. He provides representation in divorce matters including custody, support and equitable distribution as well as estate planning and small business representation. Michael helps guide his clients to break through the emotional difficulties that can inhibit effective problem solving. He also loves helping individuals and owners of small businesses preserve and protect their property interests using trusts, partnerships and limited liability companies, and assists owners of closely held businesses with planning for the continuation or sale of businesses. He has also worked in commercial and residential real estate and civil litigation. His financial experience has been in real estate securities, life insurance and annuities.
Prior experience includes:
- Representing individuals in domestic relations matters, including divorce, child custody and visitation, support and equitable distribution;
- Representing buyers and sellers in residential and commercial real estate transactions, including providing due diligence analysis of commercial real estate private placement offerings;
- Litigation of matters involving real estate title issues, enforcement of contracts, boundary disputes, easements, partition and foreclosure;
- Corporate Law, including registration of business entities, drafting of organizational documents, contract and lease review, and providing advice and counsel with respect to issues confronted by new commercial enterprises;
- Representing creditors in the collection of debt.
