David L. Lingerfelt has been fortunate to have practiced in both small and large firm settings, and as outside and inside counsel to Fortune 500 and other national companies. He has also served in profit center and staff management roles in tandem with his role as inside counsel. His wide ranging experience in litigation, business, real estate and tax provides a broad lens through which to view a client's business and legal issues and provide comprehensive solutions. He is a firm believer that the attorney should serve as a facilitator rather than an obstacle to a client's business objectives.
Past representation has included manufacturing and industrial companies (Consumat Systems, Inc., CSX Corporation, Electric Motor Repair), national retail tenants and landlords (Circuit City, LaSalle Partners), institutional lenders (Sun Life, Signet Bank), office/warehouse and assisted living REIT's (Liberty Property Trust), private lenders and borrowers, bank trust departments, the FDIC (RTC), as well a contractors and developers.
David has had an interest in tax since law school, and began advising clients on 1031 exchanges in the mid 1980s following the decision in Starker v. United States. To better advise his exchange clients, and to become a more effective business and estate lawyer, he obtained his LLM in Taxation.
